Crossway

Crossway exists to publish gospel-centered, Bible-based content aimed at honoring our Savior and serving his Church. We want to help people understand the implications of the gospel and the truth of God’s Word, for all of life, for all eternity, and for the glory of God.

Crossway's publishing ministry consists of Bible, book, and tract publishing, accompanied by a variety of strategic global ministry initiatives.

Bibles

The purpose of Crossway’s Bible Division is to create outstanding ESV Bibles and Bible resources that bear witness to the gospel and the truth of God’s Word in all of life, and that serve the needs of the global church; see the Lord’s gracious provision in our work; and give honor and glory to the Lord.

The ESV® Bible (English Standard Version®) is an “essentially literal” translation of the Bible in contemporary English. Created by a team of more than 100 leading evangelical scholars and pastors, the ESV Bible emphasizes "word-for-word" accuracy, literary excellence, and depth of meaning.

Since its publication in 2001, the ESV has gained wide acceptance and is used by church leaders, numerous denominations and organizations, and millions of individuals around the world.

The ESV Bible is suited for personal reading, public worship, in-depth study, and Scripture memorization. It is available in hundreds of print editions and free online via mobile app (iOS and Android) and at ESV.org.

Books

In 1979, Crossway launched its book division to promote and publish the greatest news in the world through the medium of printed (and now digital) books. Since then, Crossway has become a leading publisher of evangelical Christian books focused on proclaiming the gospel and applying God’s Word to every area of life.

At Crossway, we have sought to describe our contribution to the larger world of Christian publishing as “gospel-centered publishing,” which means that our goals, content, and manner will have a distinctive gospel flavor and ethos, as we seek to view everything through the cross-work of Christ and his lordship over all things.

Crossway has been privileged to publish more than 1,500 different titles, including books by Francis Schaeffer, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, John MacArthur, J.I. Packer, Mark Dever, Max Lucado, Joni Eareckson Tada, Kevin DeYoung, and D. A. Carson.

Tracts

Tracts are creative, short-form presentations of the gospel—convenient to use and economical to produce and distribute. Tracts have been used by Christians in one form or another since at least the 13th century and continue to aid in outreach efforts around the globe.

Crossway, originally known as Good News Publishers, was founded in 1938 through the evangelistic ministry of Clyde and Muriel Dennis, two people who cared deeply about the advance of the gospel. The Dennis family found that tracts could have a unique and strategic role to play in the work of evangelism, printing over 50 million tracts during World War II alone.

Since 1938 Crossway has distributed over 1 billion tracts, and we continue to distribute more than 23 million tracts annually to ministries and individuals actively sharing the gospel.
