Stephen John Hartnett is Associate Professor [chair] of the Department of Communication, University of Colorado Denver. Hartnett has written numerous books; has spent nineteen years teaching in, writing about, and protesting at America's prisons; and is the editor of Captured Words/Free Thoughts, a magazine of art and poems by imprisoned writers.
