Jo Heinrich

Jo Heinrich is a translator who specializes in literary and commercial translations. She translates from French and German into English. Marzahn, Mon Amour is her literary translation debut.

Jo Heinrich's journey into translation culminated with her MA in Translation from the University of Bristol, graduating with distinction in 2018. She has been shortlisted for the Austrian Cultural Forum London Translation Prize and the John Dryden Translation Competition.

Her first significant achievement in literary translation was Marzahn, Mon Amour by Katja Oskamp, translated from German. The work won the 2023 Dublin Literary Award, was shortlisted for the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation, and was runner-up for the TA First Translation Prize.

Heinrich's upcoming projects include The Invention of Good and Evil by Hanno Sauer, a non-fiction work, and another collaboration with Katja Oskamp, both set for publication in 2024. She also engages in sample translations for publishers and reader reports.

In commercial translation, Heinrich specializes in several areas, including marketing, fashion, wellness, gastronomy, crafts, photography, humanitarian work, and the toy industry. She offers a meticulous proofreading service to ensure perfection in English texts.

Jo Heinrich resides just outside Bristol with her family.
