Hope C. Tarr is the award-winning American author of twenty-five historical and contemporary romances and four screenplays, including Operation Cinderella, optioned by 20th Century FOX for the feature film. Her novels reprinted in 30 languages, including Slovene, French, and Japanese.
Hope Tarr was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to William "Bill" Tarr, a telephone repairman, and Nancy, a homemaker. An only child, Tarr was always a bit of a daydreamer. She wrote her first "novel," a Tudor-set romance, between the ages of eleven and twelve.
Tarr earned B.A. in Psychology from Towson University, an M.A. in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Education, both from The Catholic University of America. Before launching her writing career, Tarr was a data scientist for consulting firms in Washington, DC.
Her decision to become a writer was influenced by the book How to Write a Romance Novel & Get It Published by Kathryn Falk. She received many rejections from publishers before she sold her second full-length novel, A Rogue's Pleasure, to Penguin Books. The book was published in 2000 and was a success.
Over twenty more historical and contemporary romances followed, including two contemporary erotic novels with adult entertainment legend Jenna Jameson.
Numerous entertainment news programs and publications, including NBC’s Today Show, Time Out New York, and The New York Post, have featured Hope.
In 2008 Tarr moved to New York. She is a founder and curator of the popular Manhattan-based Lady Jane’s Salon® romance and women’s fiction reading series, now in its tenth year with satellites nationwide.
In 2014, Twentieth Century Fox optioned Tarr's contemporary rom-com, Operation Cinderella. The book is the first of a four-book series.
Her women’s historical fiction debut, Irish Eyes, set in Gilded and Jazz Age New York City, will be released in 2023.
Hope C. Tarr currently lives in Manhattan.
