Maria Haskins

I'm a Swedish-Canadian writer and translator with a passion for writing and reading in general, and science fiction and fantasy in particular. I was born and grew up in Sweden, but moved to Canada in the early 1990s. Currently, I'm located just outside Vancouver with my family - a husband, two kids, and a very large dog. I've had several books published in Sweden, including three collections of poetry, a novel, and a collection of science fiction short stories.My English language debut 'Odin's Eye' - a collection of science fiction short-stories - was self-published in March, 2015. My book 'Cuts & Collected Poems 1989 - 2015' was released on November 9, 2015. It includes both new poems written in English, and my own translations of my previously published Swedish poetry. I am currently working on several short story projects, a science fiction novel, and various other writing projects.Fantasy, historical fiction and science fiction are my favourite literary genres, and I have always been a voracious reader. Some of my favourite writers include Ursula K Le Guin, Ray Bradbury, T.S. Eliot, George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Orwell, Hemingway, John LeCarre, Umberto Eco, and Colleen McCullough.
