Elizabeth Haynes

Elizabeth Haynes is a British writer of crime fiction. Her books are now published in more than 30 countries worldwide and in over 20 languages. Her writing is partly inspired by her work as a Police Intelligence Analyst in Kent.

Elizabeth Haynes grew up in Seaford, Sussex. She studied English, German, and Art History at Leicester University.

In 2005, Elizabeth Haynes discovered National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), an annual challenge to write 50,000 words in November. She found NaNoWriMo to be a perfect fit for her creative aspirations, as it provided a motivating platform to overcome writer's block, self-doubt, and the fear of producing less-than-perfect work.

In her first attempt at NaNoWriMo in 2005, Elizabeth wrote a serial killer-thriller that featured characters based on people she knew. However, she faced some difficulties due to having two characters named Simon, confusing the narrative. Despite these challenges, she completed the 50,000-word goal.

Elizabeth continued in NaNoWriMo, refining her writing skills and experimenting with various plots and characters. In 2008, she wrote the first draft of her novel Into the Darkest Corner, a milestone in her writing journey.

Encouraged by the positive feedback from friends who read the manuscript, Elizabeth sought help with editing and eventually connected with Myriad Editions.

Her first novel, Into the Darkest Corner, was published in 2011 and was featured on Channel 4’s TV Book Club. It was selected as one of Amazon UK’s Rising Stars and won Amazon UK Best Book of 2011.

The books Under the Silent Moon and Behind Closed Doors are the beginning of a series of police procedural thrillers featuring members of Brierstone's Major Crime Unit.

Elizabeth Haynes lives in Norfolk, in the East of England.
