Dean Davies was raised in Delta, Colorado, a small town in the western part of Colorado. He is ABD in literature, and taught writing and literature at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado; Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and at Idaho State University, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He quit teaching in 2003 to write novels and poetry. His novel, "The Anvil", was published by Eloquent Books in 2008, followed by his first book of poetry, "We Had Our Best Discussions in the Bathtub," in November of the same year.Of the importance of writing, he writes in the preface to "Best Discussions," "As we plunge deeper and more deeply yet, into what I consider a dehumanizing technological and corporate abyss, poetry, and literature in general, play an increasingly important role in balancing the robotic, bar-coded, cubicle life of our "bottom-line" culture, with the great universal themes of human exitence: birth, death, love, war, and the unutterable importance of our choices."
