Shari Low

Shari Low is a Scottish author who specialises in relationship-based fiction, including contemporary drama, romantic comedy, and thrillers. She is best known for her novels exploring life's complex emotional landscapes and for her collaborative Hollywood thrillers, which she co-wrote with Ross King MBE.

Shari Low was born near Glasgow, Scotland, where she spent her teenage years aspiring to a glamorous writing career, influenced by Jackie Collins. She initially pursued a nightclub and hotel management career, which took her from Scotland to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Returning to Glasgow in the 1990s, she met her future husband in unexpected circumstances. Recalling their whirlwind romance, she said: "Seven days later, we moved in together and had an engagement party. The couple have been married for almost 30 years.

Low began writing at 30, during what she describes as a "mid-life crisis". Her debut novel, What If?, came out in 2001. She has since published over 35 novels, selling millions of copies worldwide and translating into several languages, including Italian, Polish and German. Low's work focuses on relationships and themes of family, friendship, love and loss, often incorporating humour and poignant life moments.

Her stand-alone books include My One Month Marriage and One Summer Sunrise, both critically acclaimed for their relatable narratives and emotional depth. Shari has also written Because Mummy Said So (2018), a collection of humorous essays about motherhood that she describes as "an endless stream of disasters, dramas, embarrassing moments, and laughs."

In addition to stand-alone novels, Low collaborates with long-time friend Ross King on a series of Hollywood thrillers. Their first book, The Rise (2022), drew on King's experience covering celebrities in Los Angeles and Low's storytelling skills. It was followed by The Catch (2023) and The Fall (2023). The novels explore the lives of childhood friends from Glasgow who become major Hollywood stars, combining insider detail with fictional drama.

Shari Low now lives in Glasgow with her husband and their labradoodle. Her two sons have left home. She continues to write full-time, and her latest works are published by Boldwood Books, which she praises as a supportive home for her writing.
