Dougie Brimson is a British author, screenwriter, and director film producer. Brimson is a bestselling author with 17 books on his belt with non-fiction, fiction-thriller, and fiction-comedy titles.
Dougie Brimson was born in Hemel Hempstead and educated at Brentwood School before pursuing a career in the Royal Air Force.
After 18 years of service with the RAF, he began his writing career in 1996. Brimson debuted with the non-fiction work Everywhere We Go: Behind the Matchday Madness. The book about football hooliganism instantly became a bestseller.
Brimson has written several other successful books, including his first novel, The Crew (1999), and a crime drama Top Dog (2001). Later, both books were adapted into films.
The crime thriller The Crew topped the Amazon sports book download charts for two years following its publication in eBook format.
In 2003, Dougie moved into screenwriting. First, he directed the critically acclaimed short film It's a Casual Life and then his first Hollywood-funded feature film, Green Street, starring Elijah Wood. Since its release in September 2005, the film has won many awards.
Brimson's writing often explores themes of masculinity and violence and has been praised for its gritty, realistic portrayal of working-class life in Britain.
His most recent novel, The Art of Fart, came out in 2020.
In addition to his work in fiction, Brimson has written for television, including the popular British soap opera Eastenders, and the comedy-drama series, Baddiel's Syndrome.
He also worked as a journalist, contributing to such media as The Sun and The Daily Mirror.
Dougie Brimson supports several charities, including the Royal British Legion and the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
He currently resides in the United Kingdom with his wife and two children.
