Lissa Evans

Lissa Evans is a British author and television producer who has written books for adults and children.

Lissa Evans was born in the West Midlands as Felicity Kenvyn. Evans has always been enveloped in the world of stories, spending her youth exploring the vast landscapes of literature in her local library. After completing her medical degree at Newcastle University in 1983, she worked as a junior doctor for four years before venturing into television and comedy.

Her illustrious career in media saw her producing and directing for renowned shows like Father Ted, for which she received a BAFTA, and Crossing the Floor, earning her an Emmy.

Transitioning from medicine to the arts, Evans found her true calling in writing. She debuted with the novel Spencer’s List, published in 2002. She has since penned five novels for adults, including Their Finest Hour and a Half, adapted into the film with the same title in 2017, and Crooked Heart, long-listed for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction.

Her works for children, like Small Change for Stuart (2010), have also garnered critical acclaim. The book Wed Wabbit (2017) narrates the tale of Fidge, an almost eleven-year-old who finds herself thrown into an unfamiliar and bizarre land following an unexpected event.

Alongside two peculiar companions and her detestable cousin, Graham, Fidge must navigate a labyrinth of nearly impossible puzzles. Their journey is made all the more daunting by the tyrannical rule of a stuffed animal dictator and the presence of three thousand Wimbley Woos.

Lissa Evans lives in London with her husband and two daughters.
