Rachael Gray

Rachael Gray is a British author and Doctor of Clinical Psychology, best known for her debut novel, A Little Bird Told Me (2024). It is the first in the Elderwick Mysteries series, soon to be followed by A Turn Up For The Books (December 2024) and A Storm In A Teacup (April 2025).

Born and raised in East Yorkshire, Rachael spent parts of her life in the United States and the South and South West of England before returning to Yorkshire.

Over two decades, she has worked in the NHS and palliative care charities, providing psychological support to those in need. However, her childhood dream of becoming a writer never left her, although it took some time to fulfil.

"My dream of being a writer never went away; it just took me a long time to do anything about it," she has said of her journey to publication.

Her debut novel, A Little Bird Told Me, centres on psychologist Laurel Nightingale, who moves to the quiet village of Elderwick in search of peace, only to stumble upon a murder mystery. When the local police dismiss the case as an accident, Laurel takes it upon herself to investigate, enlisting the help of a friend. When a second murder occurs, and her accusations alienate her from the community, she must decide who to trust as her fears grow.

Rachael Gray now lives and writes from her home in Normandy, France.
