Daniel O'Malley is an Australian science fiction writer. He authored three novels, The Rook, Stiletto, and Blitz (and those yet to come). His debut novel, The Rook, came out in 2012. It received that year's Aurealis Award in the category of Best Science Fiction Novel.
Dan O'Malley was born and raised in Canberra, Australia. He graduated from Michigan State University and earned an MA in medieval history from Ohio State University.
He then returned from the US to his childhood home in Australia. His first published book, The Rook, was critically acclaimed and has also been adapted into a television mini-series on the Starz network with Emma Greenwell in the role of Myfanwy Thomas.
It was followed by the sequel Stiletto (2016), in which the story is told primarily from the POV of Odette and Felicity.
His most recent novel is Blitz (2022), a historical fantasy in which a recruit to the most powerful supernatural intelligence agency on Earth is accused of going rogue—and must go on the run to clear her name.
O'Malley now works for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, writing press releases for government investigations of plane crashes and runaway boats.
