Sarah Bullen

Sarah Bullen is a South African author, writing coach and literary agent known for her work on near-death experiences and writing advice. She has written several books, including Write Your Book in 100 Days and Love & Above: A Journey into Shamanism, Coma and Joy.

Sarah Bullen holds a BA Honours in Politics from the University of Cape Town, where she studied from 1993 to 1996. Before venturing into the world of books, she worked as a financial and magazine journalist, contributing to publications such as Marie Claire, The Guardian, Cosmopolitan and Psychologies UK.

In her 30s, Sarah had a near-death experience that left her in a coma for three weeks. This pivotal event became the foundation for much of her later work, influencing her exploration of mysticism, spirituality and the afterlife. Her book Love & Above recounts her journey through this profound experience.

Her most recent work, The Other Side: Journeys into Mysticism, Magic and Near Death (2024), builds on this narrative with a deeper exploration of life after death.

Drawing on stories from across Africa, Sarah interviews people who have either crossed over to the 'other side' or have the ability to communicate with spiritual realms. The book features encounters with various people, including a psychic rabbi, a spiritual teacher with near-death experiences and shamans. Through these stories, Sarah offers readers a unique perspective on ancient wisdom and the mysteries of life after death.

Sarah Bullen also runs international writing retreats in Europe and Africa and mentors aspiring writers through her organisations, The Writing Room and Kent Literary. Her work has led to the publication of over 180 books by writers she has mentored.
