Marc Acito

Marc Acito is an American novelist known for his work in the comedy genre. His debut novel, How I Paid for College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship and Musical Theater (2004), won the Oregon Book Awards' Ken Kesey Award.

Marc Acito was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. He grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. Although Acito's time at Carnegie-Mellon was short-lived due to his expulsion, it did not stifle his creative spirit but fuelled his writing career.

Acito also earned recognition as a Top Ten Teen Pick by the American Library Association and was chosen as an Editors' Choice by The New York Times. The novel's success led to its option for film by Columbia Pictures and translations into five languages, broadening its international appeal.

He earned national recognition for his humorous columns, particularly The Gospel According to Marc, and his contributions to National Public Radio. He turned to writing after studying at Colorado College and studying abroad.

Marc Acito resides in New York with his partner, Floyd.
