His work in this role has focused on the historical experience of the South Wales coalfield.
In addition to his academic publications, Leeworthy's latest book, Ponty Is It? (2024), offers a personal and humorous exploration of his home town of Pontypridd. This book reflects Pontypridd's enduring appeal through its unique culture and place in Welsh history. Aside from its famous landmarks, such as the birthplace of Tom Jones and the iconic Welsh national anthem, Leeworthy writes about the town's gossip, coffee, and chips.
He says: "There's something about Ponty that always draws me back, no matter how far away I go".
