In 2006 I decided to leave the corporate world and join my husband Don in his home remodeling business. We started the business as handyman and home repairs, dispatching handymen to client homes. When one of my clients asked me to remodel her home, I was uncertain where to begin. I didn’t think I had the knowledge of working with specialty trades, updated design trends, or the ability to pull all the timelines and sub-contractors together. At this time, I realized all the overwhelm and uncertainty that homeowners must feel when they want to remodel their home. My friend insisted that I remodel her home and I found that all my design and business background flowed easily for me. I had found my niche. It was this experience that caused me to make educating my clients on remodeling a mission for me. I started teaching classes, writing articles for my newsletter, and finally writing my book: Renovate, Remodel, Relax. Today, I teach at Home Shows, community centers, showrooms, and universities.
