Tim Sullivan

Tim Sullivan is a German-born British author, film and television director and screenwriter. He is known for his work with Granada Television and his feature film Jack and Sarah (1995).

Timothy Sullivan was born in Germany, where his father served in the Royal Air Force. He studied at Clifton College in Bristol, England, and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, on a scholarship, majoring in English and Law.

While at Cambridge, Sullivan participated in the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club. He also co-wrote a play titled Klev with Richard Maher. In 1978, it was performed at the Crown Theatre, Hill Place. Furthermore, Sullivan contributed by supplying extras to the film "Chariots of Fire" in 1981.

After Cambridge, Sullivan became a chauffeur on "Brideshead Revisited." Producer Derek Granger encouraged him to join Granada Television. Sullivan wrote and directed for Granada, including The Train Now Leaving and episodes of Coronation Street. His first feature film was Jack and Sarah in 1995. He then worked freelance, directing for television and writing films like Letters to Juliet (2010).

Sullivan co-wrote and co-produced My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021).

Sullivan self-published crime novels featuring DS George Cross, known for his eccentric and effective investigative methods. His works, including The Dentist and The Cyclist, were successful. Sullivan was awarded an MLitt in Crime Fiction from the University of Dundee in 2023. He also won the Val McDermid dissertation prize.

Tim Sullivan chairs the UK Writers' Guild of America (West). He lives in North London with his wife, Rachel. He
