Francesca Rhydderch

Francesca Rhydderch has a degree in Modern Languages from Newnham College, Cambridge, and a PhD in English Literature from Aberystwyth University. She was Editor of the literary magazine New Welsh Review from 2002 to 2008.Her short stories have been published in magazines and anthologies, and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and Radio Wales. She has been shortlisted for the BBC Short Story Award 2015 and her début novel, The Rice Paper Diaries, won the Wales Book of the Year Fiction Prize 2014. It was also longlisted for the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award 2014. She was recently awarded a Literature Wales bursary to develop a collection of short stories, and she is also working on a second novel.Other projects include a play in Welsh, Cyfaill, about iconic Welsh-language writer Kate Roberts, commissioned by Theatr Bara Caws, for which she was shortlisted for the Theatre Critics Wales Best Playwright Award 2014.
