Uzma Aslam Khan

I was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up mostly in Karachi, though my earliest years were nomadic – two years in the Philippines, two in Japan, and three in England. It was in England, at age 6, that I wrote my first complete story, for which I was gifted a copy of Oscar Wilde’s Complete Fairy Tales. I’ve never stopped writing since and have the book with me still. My novels are: THE STORY OF NOBLE ROT (2001); TRESPASSING (2003), shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and translated into 18 languages; THE GEOMETRY OF GOD (2009), voted one of Kirkus Reviews’ Best Books of 2009 and also translated worldwide; THINNER THAN SKIN (2012), nominated for the Man Asia Literary Prize and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. An excerpt of THINNER THAN SKIN, “Ice, Mating,” appeared in GRANTA: PAKISTAN (issue # 112).
