Stephie Chapman

Stephie Chapman is an English romantic comedy novelist. She is best known for Swipe Right (2020) and Call Me Maybe (2019). Her earlier blogging also drew a Food Bib shortlist mention.

Stephie Chapman was born in Northampton, England, in the mid-1980s. She later moved to the south coast of the UK. She currently lives there with her husband and two children. She works a day job to fund her family's travels.

Before writing fiction, she wrote the blog 'I’m Counting UFOs'. She then turned to writing her debut novel, Getting Over Jesse Franklin. The book follows Cassie and Jesse, a couple whose long-distance relationship is put under strain, yet they still hold out hope.

In an interview, she outlined her writing routine: “I wrote pretty much every night after the kids were in bed.” Speaking about edits and drafts, she said, “I just systematically went through it over and over.”

Her next phase brought two widely read novels. Call Me, Maybe (2019) confirmed her turn to contemporary romance. Swipe Right (2020) followed and drew new readers. It tracks Fran and Ollie, from office friction to slow trust. The story looks at online dating and near-miss love. Its tone fits readers who enjoy London-set work and light humour.

Chapman’s books grow from everyday notes and close watching. She has spoken about the value of field checks and detail. Her advice is plain and firm: “Research research research!” She also emphasises the importance of balance when progress slows. “Don’t stress about it,” she said, pointing to patience and steady work.

Stephie Chapman remains based in southern England.
