Malcolm Duffy

Malcolm Duffy is an English YA author. He is best known for his debut novel, Me Mam. Me Dad. Me (2018), which won several literary awards.

Malcolm Duffy was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and later moved to South East England. He studied Law at Warwick University. After university, Duffy worked in advertising in London. He later became Creative Director at Comic Relief. Inspired by this role, he wrote his first novel, Me Mam. Me Dad. Me.

His debut book, published in 2018, explores domestic abuse themes. It draws from experiences visiting Comic Relief-supported projects. The novel was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and won the YA category of the Sheffield Children's Book Award 2019, the Redbridge Book Award 2019, and other prizes.

His second novel, Sofa Surfer, was recognized in several literary awards, including the Redbridge Children's Book Award 2021, the UKLA Book Awards 2021, and a nomination for the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2021.

Malcolm Duffy lives in Surrey with his wife, Jann, from New Zealand, and their daughters, Tallulah and Tabitha.
