Bill Thorness

Bill Thorness is a writer, gardener and cyclist who has been doing all three in Seattle since the mid-1980s. He is the author of Cool Season Gardener: Extend the Harvest, Plan Ahead, and Grow Vegetables Year Round (Skipstone Press, 2013), Edible Heirlooms: Heritage Vegetables for the Maritime Garden (Skipstone Press, 2009), and the regional guidebook Biking Puget Sound (Mountaineers Books, 2007). He is the co-author of POWER: How J.D. Power III Became the Auto Industry's Adviser, Confesor, and Eyewitness to History (Fenwick, 2013). He speaks regularly around the Northwest on edible gardening and leads bike tours. He is active in many gardening organizations, including Master Gardeners, Plant Amnesty and Seattle Tilth. He writes for regional print and online publications, and is a member of the Garden Writers Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.
