Elliot J Harper

Elliot J Harper is a British speculative fiction writer based in Leeds, England. His debut novel, New Gillion Street, came out in 2024. Harper’s work often explores societal tensions and the blending of reality with speculative elements. He has received recognition within the genre, including winning The Molotov Cocktail magazine’s Flash Vision 2021 contest for his short story In the Garden and being nominated for the Pushcart Prize in 2021 by Coffin Bell Journal for his short story Meme.

Harper’s short stories have been featured in several print anthologies. Notable publications include The Curious Case of the Speaking Telegraph in Spirit Machine: Tales of Seance Fiction and Into the Forest in The Wild Hunt: Stories of the Chase by Air and Nothingness Press.

His work There’s a Dead Bear in the Pool appeared in Black Telephone Issue 1 by Clash Books, while Blackout was published in The Protest Issue of Popshot Quarterly Magazine.

Harper’s short stories have been published online in literary magazines such as Maudlin House, Storgy, Neon Books, Coffin Bell, Horrified Magazine, and Idle Ink, totalling 26 stories. He maintains a monthly blog titled A Brief Chat, hosting interviews with publishers, editors, and authors to engage with the creative community. Harper is a member of the British Fantasy Society.

In January 2025, Harper plans to release a horror short story collection titled The Strange Tales of Gillion.
