Diana is only a young girl when Paul, a French seaman and artist, is attracted to her and they become friends, of a sort. She grows up and becomes engaged to Andrew. Then, a chance meeting with Paul has the potential to turn her life upside down. This is a story of conflict, between Diana's need for security and her longing for love.
