I could do it all. I could be everything to everybody. I didn’t need any help. I didn’t need any guidance. I didn’t need to change. I put every ounce of my being into mothering two beautiful boys, one of whom has a debilitating life-limiting condition. I was fine just the way I was. Just fine—until I wasn’t.
One day, the wheels fell off. I was trying to get my son into his car seat, and I couldn’t do it. I sat down right there and placed him on the ground. I was broken. But that moment became the wake-up call I needed. It fueled me to take one step, which became two, which became a journey of self-discovery. That day taught me nothing is more important than caring for myself as much as I do for my loved ones.
This is the story of my journey and transformation from sitting in the gutter ready to give up to wholeheartedly believing that the only things preventing me from being my happiest, healthiest self were my own thoughts and my actions.
I invite you to come along with me on my journey, take what you like, and leave what you don’t behind.
